Is Divorce Sandra Bullock’s Next Act?

March 18th, 2010

Was Sandra Bullock blindsided?!? Well, yes, considering she won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in the inspirational flick, The Blind Side, but we’re talking about her love life.

Like Kate Winslet earlier this week, it seems that Sandy has been affected by the Oscar curse — a running belief (of many, anyway) that once a woman wins top honors at the Academy Awards, her relationship will soon crumble.

Some of the biggest names in Hollywood are linked to this plague, including Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon and Halle Berry.

Bullock is married to motorcycle/car enthusiast, Jesse James. He’s twice married before, but she tied the knot with the TV personality in 2005 and they seemed like a couple deeply in love.

Then came In Touch Weekly’s exposé on James. The tabloid linked Jesse to tattoo model (and rumored stripper) Michelle “Bombshell” McGee. They apparently met through MySpace, were following each other on Twitter and — worst of all — engaged in “relations” while Sandy was filming her tearjerker.

Bullock has since moved out of the home she shares with Jesse and canceled her appearance at an overseas premiere of The Blind Side. Coincidentally or not, James has closed his Twitter account.

Though he hasn’t admitted anything just yet, “sources” close to the pair aren’t denying something went down between Jesse and the tattooed bombshell, who claims to have text messages from James confirming the flirtation and more.

Predicto ponders: with this story — and Sandy’s life — unraveling, will she file for divorce from Jesse? 55% of voting Predicto players say yes!

How Many will Tune in for Tiger’s Return?

March 17th, 2010

Tiger, Tiger Woods, y’all! The woes of the world’s best golfer seem to be exponential, but the former cheetah is clawing his way back to the top.

Yesterday, Woods announced that he would return to the sport that made him a star. He’ll play the Masters, which start on April 8.

Given his history with the tournament — he’s won four titles — this looks to be a ratings juggernaut!

Want more proof? Back when Woods was a rookie on the professional circuit in 1997, his winning stroke struck gold with 43 million viewers.

Nearly half as many watched his awkward apology to his family and friends last month. Those are still serious numbers for golf, whose figureheads claim that Tiger’s months-long absence from the links resulted in lost ratings and decreased public awareness.

With the Masters airing on CBS, execs at the network expect American Idol-style ratings for Woods’ road to redemption. This time, though, gawkers won’t be tuning in just to see how well Tiger has maintained his swing, they’ll want a glimpse of the guy who’s managed to stay so private during such a public scandal.

As Woods obliges fans and foes alike, Predicto asked its players if they thought this would be the all-time, most-watched extravaganza in all of golf’s history. 83% say yes!

Is it any surprise that the American public is curious about Tiger’s performance — on the greens, that is? Will he win the coveted green jacket and the much more attractive trophy? Should Jessica Simpson Ask the Millionaire Matchmaker to Find Her a Boyfriend?

March 15th, 2010

The last decade was not especially kind to Jessica Simpson. The goofy blond star has suffered from embarrassing photos and even more embarrassing interviews. Only a few years ago, her biggest problem was realizing that Chicken of the Sea wasn’t chicken. But ever since she split from ex-husband Nick Lachey, Jessica has spent her post-Newlyweds years pursuing different kinds of careers–and different kinds of boyfriends. Unfortunately, she’s not been very successful with either.

In the last decade, Jessica tried to reinvent herself as a pop star, country singer and bombshell movie actress, plus had the unfortunate luck to become a tabloid punching bag. During that same time, she dated John “Sexual Napalm” Mayer and Tony “Dumped Jessica on Her Birthday” Romo, and has been linked to Dane Cook, Adam Levine and Billy Corgan. A pretty uninspiring list of exes, wouldn’t you say?

Well, Patti Stanger agrees with you. The straight-talking star of Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker thinks Jessica needs some tough love when it comes to her love life. Patti thinks Jessica should enroll in a “singles boot camp” with Jennifer Aniston or ditch the flaky celebs for a stable businessman. Considering Jessica’s troubled past, perhaps she needs an intervention of the kind only Patti can provide.

The Predicto Mobile community has weighed in, with 54% voting that Jessica should NOT appear on the Millionaire Matchmaker for dating advice. Along with their votes, our members provided support for the romance-challenged star. One member agreed with Patti, opining that Jessica doesn’t need to be fixed up–she just needs to date a guy from OUTSIDE the moronic Hollywood hunks!”

Another offered himself as a prospective date for the star: “There is no reason for that beautiful woman to go on Matchmaker, when I’m here for her any time. Satisfaction and happiness guaranteed.”

Perhaps this last voter has the right idea when she says, “her love life may be tragic, but I don’t think her career is tragic enough to appear on some low-level reality show.” Jessica just might be too big a star to appear on Millionaire Matchmaker, especially since she’s launching her own VH-1 show called The Price of Beauty. After being mocked in the press for looking heavy in high-waisted jeans, she decided to investigate the beauty ideals around the world.

Jessica’s new show might just lead to a personal and professional renaissance, especially since she has given smart and witty interviews while promoting Price of Beauty and responding to Mayer’s questionable comments about her. Seven years ago, reality TV put Jessica on the A-list map. She seems ready to recapture her previous success all over again–and this time, on her own terms.

What does the future hold for Miss Simpson?  There’s one way to find you: by registering to play Predicto! Along with being able to vote on surveys just like this, you’ll receive texts when the answers are revealed. Want more Predicto? Become a fan on Facebook!

Will Chris Brown Retire?

March 11th, 2010

By now, everyone is familiar with “the incident” in which Chris Brown and his then-girlfriend Rihanna got into a physical altercation. The encounter left her battered and bruised, and lead to Brown serving hundreds of hours of community service — narrowly escaping a much harsher punishment.

Since then, both artists have released new albums, but to polarized results. Rihanna managed to crack the top 10 of Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 with “Russian Roulette,” “Hard” and “Rude Boy,” while Brown barely made a dent with “I Can Transform Ya” and “Crawl.”

As the publication’s Artist of the Year for 2008, Breezy should be able to bend the charts at will, something he seemingly did ever since stepping onto the scene in 2005 with his debut single, “Run It.”

That power is quickly slipping from his grasp, as he made a plea to his fans for some help. In an audio message posted on SayNow.com, Brown basically says he’s still being blacklisted from radio, despite his many (many) apologies and his good behavior obtained by serving his sentence.

But the fans don’t seem to be turning out, buying fewer albums and not calling in to request for his songs. Could the lack of support lead Chris into an early retirement? We asked the Predicto Mobile community and 75% of voting players say that he WON’T quit the music-and-performing game.

“Chris has already been through a lot and just because he is going through a tough [time] doesn’t mean he is going to quit doing something,” says member “ztnc3168.”

“He will keep trying to make a comeback,” says “thbn2341.”

Predicto Picks Shining Stars at the Oscars

March 8th, 2010

The Oscars have come and gone, marking the end of the awards season. Fortunately, viewers were given plenty of memorable moments as the stars aligned during the ceremony.

The Predicto Mobile community speculated via SMS on who would appear, what would happen and — most importantly — who would win. One of the Academy’s recipients was none other than Sandra Bullock, who claimed the Best Actress title for her role in The Blind Side. But America’s Sweetheart also scored another accolade for her acting, winning the Razzie award for her part in All About Steve opposite Bradley Cooper. Bullock became the first person to be named the best and the worst in the same year — a feat that 69% of the Predicto Mobile community expected her to accomplish when the nominations were revealed earlier this year.

Bullock wasn’t the only winner in the house, as Mo’Nique walked away with an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The honor comes as no surprise to Predicto players, 65% of whom said the Queen of Comedy would win for her dramatic portrayal of the mother in Precious.

Beyond the awards, one of the most talked about events of the Oscars was Ben Stiller’s appearance on stage dressed as one of the Na’vi people of Avatar. Originally pulled from the show, 81% of Predicto players were sure Stiller’s skit would return, especially after director James Cameron himself gave approval to the comedic piece. A more touching moment came from the stars from The Breakfast Club, who showed up to pay tribute to director and friend John Hughes, who passed away last year. 73% accurately predicted that this was one class reunion that the Brat Pack wouldn’t want to miss.

Once again, the Predicto Mobile community proved that it’s on the pulse of what’s hot in movies.

Will Lil Wayne Get Sentenced on Monday?

March 4th, 2010

Lil Wayne is managing to make a mockery of the legal system. The funny thing is, though, is that he’s not doing it on wax — or even on purpose.

Back in 2007, Weezy was caught illegally possessing a gun, a big no-no in the state of New York. When the court dust settled, Wayne was facing jail sentence of eight months to a year.

That issue was to be resolved back in February, when he went to learn his fate. This sentencing was cancelled so the rap star could have eight root canals and have the diamonds on his grill removed. The scheduled sentencing is then rescheduled a month later.

That month finally passes (with Wayne killing time by shooting as many as nine music videos for singles from his Rebirth album and make a surprise performance) and, thanks to a fire, Wayne’s court hearing is postponed yet again. But instead of handling business the following day, the judge tells him to come back on Monday, when repairs to the burned building are set to be complete.

That makes three sentencing hearings rescheduled. At this rate, Lil Wayne may never make it to jail to serve out his seemingly short term.

Predicto asked its mobile community if Weezy could expect to finally have his jail sentence revealed on Monday. After more than 2,100 votes, 70% of Predicto players think Lil Wayne will get that information on Monday!

Curious about what those voters had to say about this drawn-out drama? Click here!

We at Predicto will be glued to the Internet on Monday to see if Wayne will indeed be going to jail. Want to know what happens when it happens? Then register to play Predicto! Predicto Ponders: Where Should the ‘Real Housewives’ Go Next?

March 3rd, 2010

Explosive cat fights, shameless product plugs and endless drama — it must be time for another Real Housewives series. In fact, the third season of The Real Housewives of New York premieres on Bravo this week. The Big Apple edition of the franchise is sure to provide plenty of fodder for the Predicto Mobile community, whose players are always on the pulse of the hottest happenings in pop culture, news and sports.

Since Bravo’s hit reality show has already taken over Orange County, Atlanta and New Jersey with its housewife high jinks, Predicto would like to offer its suggestions for future seasons of the franchise.

Texas: Everything is bigger in Texas and Predicto is pretty sure that applies to drama as well. One option is the Preston Hollow neighborhood in Dallas, where stars of the show could mingle with President and Laura Bush while tailgating at Cowboys games. Another is Houston, whose oil money has surely produced a few wealthy executives with wives who enjoy living a lavish lifestyle.

Salt Lake City: Utah’s capitol is a Rocky Mountain paradise, complete with the greatest snow on Earth. The ski bunnies of neighboring Park City’s elite could heat things up with affairs, hissy fits and snowball fights. Throw in the wife (wife singular, as polygamy is illegal in the state) of a prominent figure within the Church of Latter-day Saints and RHOSLC could be quite the downhill slope.

Scottsdale: Phoenix’s eastern cousin is a literal hot bed of tanning, cosmetic surgery and people who are thisclose to knowing someone who knows someone in Los Angeles. Year-round sunbathing, expansive homes and bleach-blond hairdos only spice up the inevitable cougar hunting, near divorces and over-the-budget purchases.

Alaska: Housewives of the “lipstick on a pit bull” variety will rough it out (or not, for the sake of viewers) in the vast wintry landscape. Likely living in the only houses for miles, the housewives will tolerate their fellow Sarah Palin admirers, but will constantly be rolling their eyes, backstabbing and talking smack about their “girlfriends” as they take their kids to hockey practice.

The current crop of Real Housewives stars always keep busy with their antics — such as Atlanta’s Kim reportedly dating a woman, OC’s Tamra possibly cheating and a potential guest spot on RHONY by their New Jersey counterparts. That won’t stop anyone from eagerly anticipating where the show might expand to next. And don’t forget to check out Predicto TV’s “Best of the Housewives” episode, which you can watch above.

Where would you like to see the housewives franchise go next?

Will Anderson Cooper Anchor the ‘CBS Evening News’?

March 2nd, 2010

CNN’s slogan is “the most trusted name in news,” and one of its most recognizable faces is Anderson Cooper.

Since joining the network in 2001, Cooper has built a reputation as being an all-knowing, old-school anchor whose appeal extends from teenagers to senior citizens. He’s covered every major event since linking up with CNN and hosts the hard-hitting weeknight news program, Anderson Cooper 360°.

Additionally, Anderson is one of the contributors to 60 Minutes, adding a younger voice the aging roster of seasoned journalists. The program runs on CBS and may be contributing to the rumors swirling about his role there.

Depending on the source, Cooper met with executives at “America’s most watched network” months ago or last week. With Katie Couric’s contract about expire in 2011, media insiders are questioning whether CBS wants to part ways with Couric in order to secure Anderson as the anchor of the CBS Evening News.

Couric, who has been tackling anchor duties since 2006, has actually seen her ratings increase, but no one knows if her performance has pleased CBS, though the network continues to stand by her.

Will that change? We asked the Predicto Mobile community if they thought Anderson Cooper would be named as the successor to Couric this year. 55% of voting members say no!

“Anderson Cooper is an excellent reporter!” says member “yyct0279.”

“No way he can replace Katie!” says “baws1411.”

“Anderson Cooper will be a great improvement if he replaces Couric. [There’s] something about her that’s annoying n condescending,” says “hbnq7441.”

“I don’t think people will watch it anymore because people love Katie,” says “sytp1250.”

Will Anderson take on the anchoring duties of the much respected news agency’s top show? There’s one way to find you: by registering to play Predicto!
