Miss Predicto Talks 2009 Oscar Nominations

The Oscar nominations have been announced, and it looks like Academy members are also secret members of the “I Heart Brad Pitt” fan club.

OSCARS PREPHis movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, led the pack with 13 nominations, second to Titanic and All About Eve for the highest number of Oscar nods. Looks like ol’ Ben Button is the front-runner by those numbers alone, especially when you consider that Benjamin the man-baby had a similar cinematic journey to Forrest Gump’s titular man-child. (They both are beloved by everyone they meet, take long trips on boats, have bittersweet romances, etc.)

But a slumdog might spoil Ben’s party. Slumdog Millionaire is a critical fave, racking up awards from practically every organization that hands out statuettes. The film about oppressed but adorable Indian youngsters earned 10 Oscar nods. Pretty impressive considering that it has no A-list stars and features, you know, an actual slum. (On the bright side: dancing!)

Don’t count out The Dark Knight though. It might have not received a nomination for Best Picture, Director or Screenplay, but it still received 8 nominations. Mostly of them are for technical awards like Visual Effects and Art Direction, which the movie will probably sweep. (Not to mention that Heath Ledger is a virtual lock to win Best Supporting Actor.)

Maybe the Predicto Mobile community feels the same way, because 49% voted that The Dark Knight will win the most Oscars. (35% voted for Benjamin Button, and 16% voted for Slumdog.)

How would you like to vote on who will win Oscars, Grammys, Razzies and other awards? Well, just click your heels three times and chant “There’s no place like Predicto!”
