Sexting [verb]: The act of sending a provocative photo of one’s self via cell phone.
There’s a new epidemic on the rise, and I’m not talking about the peanut butter salmonella scare. Nope, it’s teenage kids (and some adults) unthinkingly sending risque phone pics to each other, only to have them uploaded and gawked at on the Internet.
Celebrities are often on the forefront of most trends sweeping the nation, and sexting is no different. If you type in Miley Cyrus’s name into the Google Images search engine, what will come up are a bunch of photos of Hannah Montana in various sexy poses (wet tee shirt, bare midriff, etc).
A hacker named “Digital Gangster” hacked into her Cyrus’ phone’s photo memory and swiped a bunch of pictures that she had sent to her then-boyfriend, Nick Jonas. So unfortunately, Miley will have those pics following her around the InterWebs until she’s a grandmother. Maybe even until her own kids are grandparents.
Other teen Disney stars like Vanessa Hudgens and one of the Cheetah Girls also had their brushes with sexting scandals. So it seems like a matter of time before another celeb makes a bad judgment and sexts again.
The Predicto Mobile community believes the same thing: 78% predicted that a celeb will be caught ’sexting’ before May.
Take a lesson from Miley’s travails and don’t take any photos of yourself that you’re not comfortable with the rest of the world seeing, okay?
