Predicto

Let’s face it:  Paula Abdul is crazy.

Maybe she was always like this and we just didn’t notice during her “Straight Up”/dancing with a cat heyday. Or maybe her role as American Idol judge caused her loopiness.

In either case, despite her increasingly slurred delivery and glittery makeup, right now she’s the best judge on the show.

(Note: this is not a joke. We are not being sarcastic. Really!)

During the Top 13 show, the woman complained that Simon was undressing her and that one of the Michael Jackson songs being performed was a number one hit in Norway. (Like Simon, we’re sure she was making that up.)

Okay, that was all totally crazy–no denying it. And the way she came close to drowning in a pool of her own tears when overpraising Adam “The Overly Enunciating Rocker” Lambert was sorta disturbing.

But here’s our theory: the longer Paula has to ramble on about a contestant’s performance, the more she indulges in word vomit like “you’re so pretty and we adore you and you’re inspiring to America.”  Yet when her time is limited, she can nail it.

Take Alexis Grace, who gave a pretty awesome performance of “Dirty Diana” that tended towards caterwauling near the end. All Paula had time to say was “great job but be careful of oversinging.” Isn’t that better advice than Kara telling Alexis “you’re a naughty girl and I like it”?

Randy eats up most of his judging time saying “yo, yo, yo,” while  Simon seems to have checked out completely. He told Scott “I’m in the Top 13 Cuz I’m Visually Impaired” McIntyre that Idol was not about being artistic.

If that’s the case, everyone should just get up there and lip-sync Celine Dion songs or something. Paula is whole pile of crazy, but even she wouldn’t say that.
