Predicto Asks: When Will Jay-Z Release Blueprint 3?

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Jigga what?

jay-z rapJay-Z, after spending more than a decade on the Def Jam label, has split ways with the record company which launched his career into superstardom. This is like peanut butter ditching jelly or Simon Cowell deserting American Idol–it’s almost impossible to imagine one without the other!

This is good news for his fans though, who have been salivating at the idea of hearing his next opus, Blueprint 3, for a few years. Now that Beyonce’s better half has split with Def Jam, it’s rumored that the album will drop this fall through a partnership with his label Roc Nation and Sony Music.

So will Jay-Z release his highly anticipated Blueprint 3 by November? 84% of the Predicto Mobile community says we’ll get new music from the rapper later this year.

UPDATE: The Predicto peeps got it right–the album’s coming out September 11.

Predicto Exclusive: Serial Texting Teen Speaks About Safe Texting

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Like most teenagers, Dena Christofferson loved to send text messages to her friends.   Unlike most teenagers, she racked up a $4,700 monthly phone bill doing so.

How did she do it? By sending and receiving 20,000 SMS messages in 30 days–that’s nearly 700 texts per day!

You may remember, Predicto Mobile made an offer to help pay the Christoffersen’s bill. Fortunately, the family has been able to successfully negotiate with their carrier. More importantly, this experience has taught Dena the importance of “safe texting.” Predicto Mobile is happy to donate $2,000 to her education fund, in exchange for her advice to fellow teens on responsible cell phone behavior. Here is what Dena had to say:

Hi, my name is Dena Christoffersen and I made a phone bill of $4,700.00 dollars by texting.  Since this happened I have learned a lot. One thing I learned is that when your parents tell you not to do something, don’t do it.  I was so distracted from texting in school that my grades became horrible.  I was frustrated too, because I didn’t know what was going on in school, or understand what was happening with my grades.  Texting isn’t the best thing in the world and it did get me in a lot of trouble, but that’s not the point.  The point is I did it when I was not supposed to.

People, please text smart.  Don’t be like me – or as my Dad now says, “don’t be a Dena.” Don’t text in school. I mean, if you get caught, you might get your phone taken away or detention, or even expelled for a day.  If your grades looked like mine started to, you might also get your phone taken away.  Either way you are setting yourself up for a trap.  Maybe you haven’t thought about it? Well wake up, smell the coffee and think about what you are doing.  Look at your grades, look at what you have learned and done since you’ve had your phone and started texting in school.

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. “Who does this girl think she is?” Well you know what? I’ve been there, I’ve been caught and I’ve seen how terrible my grades were when I was texting during school. So take some advice and don’t text in school.  Since my phone was smashed and I’ve been without it, I have learned a lot. My grades have gotten a lot better.

I am happy Verizon was willing to help us with the bill.  When I do get my phone back, I will text smart. I won’t text in school, and I will make sure I have unlimited texting on our plan before I text. Also, I will ask my parents if it’s ok if I text!

Predicto Posits: Will New York Train Exotic Animals on Her VH-1 Reality Show?

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Who doesn’t love New York? Not the city, but the diva whose dating show created sky-high buzz and ratings for VH-1. These days, she’s not looking for a date, but a job.

On New York Goes to Work, New York (real name: Tiffany Pollard) is forced to toil based on the whims of VH-1’s audience, who vote  on what they would like to see her do.

So far, she’s been employed as a pig farmer, nudist resort worker and a ghost hunter. Super glamorous stuff! Luckily for her, she gets paid $10,000 for each job completed.

This week, New York will be asked to work outdoors; her options are dairy farmer, gardener or exotic animal trainer.

Seeing as how the voting audience tends to make her do the craziest stuff possible, 79% of the Predicto Mobile community thinks that VH-1’s audience will want Miss Pollard to train lions, tigers and bears. Oh, my!

Predicto peep “bluemo7″ voted yes because “she would mess those animals up.” Yeah, we fear for the poor critters’ safety too.

UPDATE: Predicto members get it right again! New York had to work with some four-legged friends, and it was predictably hilarous.

Predicto Wonders: Will Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore Quit Twitter?

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Has Twitter jumped the shark?

Married Twitter-holics Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher seem to think so. They’re peeved that their favorite social networking tool might become a TV show. Apparently, the show will let regular folks follow celebs via their tweets. Sort of sounds like stalking, doesn’t it?

Maybe Demi agrees because she tweeted that “I hope this isn’t true. If it is our Twitter time may come to a quick and sad end!”

Would the Hollywood supercouple be so opposed to Twitter TV that they’d quit in protest? The Predicto Mobile community is split on the issue, with 50% saying no.

Predicto member “titansfan” speaks for many, saying “Demi and Ashton love to Twitter and won’t quit anytime soon.”

We actually love it too. Follow us on Twitter for the latest celebrity predictions, headlines and more. And if you aren’t playing Predicto yet, go here and start playing today!

Predicto Asks: Will Kris Allen or Adam Lambert Win American Idol?

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Each week Predicto members have been voting who will go home on American Idol. Now that we’re down to the final week of competition, it’s time to see who they think will win!

idol 2Kris and Adam are complete opposites (one favors eyeliner and leather while the other prefers scruff and jeans), but both have wowed audiences with their performances this season.

While Adam got early props of his song performances during Motown and Disco Week, Kris has emerged as a true dark horse thanks to his surprisingly awesome take on Kanye West’s “Heartless.”  In fact, we think that  Kris and Adam could provide one of the best finales in the show’s history!

The Predicto Mobile community has voted, and 62% predict that the Glambert One will win American Idol.

UPDATE: The Predicto peeps were wrong! In a shocking upset, Kris was crowned this year’s Idol.

Predicto Musings: Will Gilles Marini win Dancing With the Stars?

Friday, May 15th, 2009

The latest season of Dancing with the Stars is finally winding down, but not before the show managed to injury nearly every C-list celeb in the universe. (Let’s pause and give respect to Jewel, Nancy O’ Dell, Steve-O and The Woz for selflessly sacrificing their limbs in the name of fleeting TV infamy.)

There are three people left in the competition: gymnast Shawn Johnson, Bachelor reject Melissa Mycroft and Sex and the City stud Gilles Marini. All of have done pretty well on the show, but only Gilles and his partner Cheryl Burke have earned perfect scores from the judges multiple times.

So it seems a safe bet that he will take home the disco ball trophy, and the Predicto Mobile community agrees: 72% say that sexy Gilles Marini will win Dancing with the Stars.

Predicto member “titansfan” voted for him because “obviously, Gilles is the fans’ favorite!”   We have a feeling that Gilles’ slick moves on the dance floor aren’t they only reason he has so many people rooting for him. (Seriously. LOOK.)
