Jon & Kate. Kate & Jon. All anyone seems to chat about these days are the dysfunctional reality TV couple and their adorable kids. But with all that attention comes increased scrutiny over how much time the Gosselin brood spends in front of the cameras.
Jon & Kate Plus 8 has garnered the biggest ratings in it’s four-year history due to the tabloid brouhaha over the couple’s marriage. It has also attracted the notice of the Pennsylvania labor department, who are investigating whether the show complies with the state’s child labor laws.
The twins and sextuplets have practically grown up on TV their whole childhoods, so they probably don’t find it strange that cameras capture their every smile and tantrum. But perhaps they find it annoying? After all, a 30-minute episode of the show is culled from 5-6 days of shooting. That’s not a lot of privacy!
Even Kathie Lee Gifford, infamous for blabbing about her kids when she co-hosted Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, disapproves of the reality show. She says, “Who knows the long-term damage something like this could do?” Thanks to the state investigation, it looks like we’re about to find out.
The Predicto Mobile community is very opinionated on this issue, with 52% predicting that Jon & Kate Plus 8 will NOT be shut down for breaking child labor laws by summer’s end.
Predicto peep “Jasmineari” thinks that “the show won’t be shut down. If there’re labor law issues, they’ll be resolved. This is a huge maker for the network–their lawyers won’t let it go down.” But member “Usereyzq3477″ counters, “they should get shut down solely on the fact that they are clearly exploiting children for money and fame.”
No doubt this will remain a heated issue throughout the summer months! If you’d like to predict the outcome of this and many other hot topics, visit Predicto.com and get started today.
