Hot Fashions and Cool Celeb Gossip at Issa London Show

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Lately Predicto TV has wrangled some pretty sweet invitations. When we aren’t going to movie premiers and red carpet events, we are now making a splash at private parties. Our latest coup was getting the Predicto TV crew into the posh Standard Hotel in Manhattan for a fashion show packed with models and cocktail-sipping fashionistas. The occasion was the debut of a new line from Issa London, the hot brand that is favored by stars such as Madonna, Keira Knightley and Nicole Richie. As we navigated through a crush of tipsy partygoers and haughty models, we got to talk to head designer Daniella Issa Helayel, the Brazilian fashion genius (and Rafael Nadal super fan), as well as hair stylist to the stars, Ted Gibson. But we saved the best for last, as we chat up rising fashion models Liza Golden, Ilona Struzik and Danielle Henry about their devotion to Adam Lambert, Twitter and Facebook. Watch Episode 24 of Predicto TV to find out what other celebs have to say about pop culture and music, as we try to blend in with socialites!

Coffee Talk: Will McDonald’s Coffee Overtake Starbucks?

Friday, June 19th, 2009

McDonald's CoffeeIf there’s one thing people are passionate about, it’s coffee. Java is the juice that kick-starts the morning for millions of Americans.

Naturally, with so many relying on the drink to get them going, there is plenty of debate about who has the best brew.

For years, the battle for supremacy raged between Dunkin’ Donuts and the No. 1-preferred king of coffee, Starbucks. But McDonald’s, better known for Big Macs and McNuggets, has entered the fray with a marketing blitz for its McCafé coffee offerings, which includes both hot and cold drinks.

In a recent survey of 8,000 connoisseurs, BIGResearch found that Mickey D’s had surpassed Dunkin’ as the No. 2 favorite. This comes as the fast-food chain cuts into Starbucks’ share of the market.

As of this writing, aggressive advertising (and in some cases, 24-hour drive-thrus) has only convinced 39% of the Predicto Mobile community to predict that McDonald’s will surpass Starbucks as everyone’s favorite coffee by 11/30.

“McCafé is best the coffee, so McDonald’s will steal the No. 1 spot from Starbucks,” says member “Bmay75.” But “kristileigh” agrees with the majority so far, simply stating that, “Starbucks is the best!”

Hmmm, looks like this back-and-forth could go on for a while. Stay in the know, on the go and with your cup o’ joe by visiting Predicto.com. We’ll make sure you get your fix of the latest and greatest surveys on the hottest topics. And don’t forget to become a fan of Predicto on Facebook!

Predicto Wonders: Will E! Ban Speidi Coverage?

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Speidi Spencer Pratt Heidi MontagSpeidi be gone? That depends on how E! viewers vote.

The entertainment network has a poll running on its Web site about future coverage of Spencer and Heidi Pratt. The choices are to continue covering the couple as normal or cut them out of the news rundown unless they do something truly newsworthy (a decision, thankfully, not in the hands of Spencer).

Voting lasts until Sunday and results will be revealed on Monday night during E! News, but the comments seem to indicate a split vote. Here, though, 55% of the Predicto Mobile community predicts that E! watchers will make the channel a Speidi-free zone.

“They are so annoying. Who wants to see them?” says member “CrimsonDawn.” “I don’t even know who they are. I’m tired of hearing about them,” says “Ms4KPooh.”

“They have to,” says “ptja2546,” whose statement is echoed by “Renee,” who says, “People can’t get enough of the drama.”

Will Mariah Carey Score Her 19th No. 1 Hit by 7/15?

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Mariah Carey 3Mariah Carey’s fans, often referred to as “Lambs,” are known to be a bit obsessive when it comes to the pop diva. How appropriate is it, then, that her latest single is called “Obsessed”?

The track from Carey’s forthcoming album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, hit radio this week and is receiving a lot of buzz, especially about its chart-topping potential and what some belief to be references directed at Eminem.

If the talked-about song tops the Billboard Hot 100, it will give the five-octave-range singer her 19th No. 1 hit since her debut in 1990. Perhaps because of her current tally of 18, 82% of the Predicto Mobile community predicts “Obsessed” will top the chart by 7/15.

“Mariah is slapping back at Eminem on this track, so it will certainly skyrocket to No. 1,” says Predicto Mobile member “Jasmineari.”

“With the talent and voice Mariah has, she would have no problem getting more No. 1 hits,” says “ohys0684.”  “She has such a huge following that she would have to try at failing,” says “wilburforce2004,” who voted yes along with “Jasmineari” and “ohys0684.”

“It’s right around the corner. She has less than a month for her song to go No. 1,” says “ngye3958,” who voted no due to the time constraints. “I didn’t think people listened to Mariah Carey that much anymore,” says “syzj8067,” who also voted no.

Curious about Carey’s other No. 1 hits? Here’s a list for your (legal) downloading and listening pleasure:

1. “Vision of Love”
2. “Love Takes Time”
3. “Someday”
4. “I Don’t Wanna Cry”
5. “Emotions”
6. “I’ll Be There”
7. “Dream Lover”
8. “Hero”
9. “Fantasy”
10. “One Sweet Day”
11. “Always Be My Baby”
12. “Honey”
13. “My All”
14. “Heartbreaker”
15. “Thank God I Found You”
16. “We Belong Together”
17. “Don’t Forget About Us”
18. “Touch My Body”

Predicto Asks: Will Calvin Klein’s Sexy New Billboard Come Down by 6/30?

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Calvin Klein Threesome AdCalvin Klein has never been one to shy away from using sex to sell. The brand’s unapologetic ads with scantily clad hotties and hard bodies have featured the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Kate Moss, Brooke Shields and Antonio Sabato Jr., as well as received their fair share of criticism for using and targeting an underage audience.

The infamously racy nature of Klein’s ads has been subdued in recent years, but the designer more than made up for it with his latest billboard in New York City’s SoHo district.

The spread has become a lightning rod of attention for those who think it should be taken down and for those who are a little curious. Some say it’s too explicit, even by New York’s standards.

The image depicts a woman lying on top of one man while she kisses another. Also a part of the action is a third guy, who’s lying on the floor in jeans that are unbuttoned or that he’s trying to remove.

What’s really going on in this fourgy is up to the interpreter, but 52% of the Predicto Mobile community thinks that Klein’s billboard will not be taken down by 6/30.

It’s not that bad. Besides, TV has stuff like that on every day!” says user “hhxr7106.” “It’s Calvin Klein, it’s always going to be the bare minimum,” says an unsurprised “burtonh1980.”

“Calvin Klein has top models for his shoot and that’s what a lot of Americans like to see,” says “upos8686” of the visual. “They look cool. Freedom of speech!” exclaims “yshh2811.”

Predicto Wants to Know: Will Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas Attend the Teen Choice Awards Together?

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

“Reconnected.”

miley-cyrus-nick-jonasThat’s the term that Disney teen royalty Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas are using to describe the fact they’re dating again. Ms. Cyrus dumped her 20-year old boyfriend Justin Gaston for her first love, causing Justin to retaliate by inking over his tattoo of her initials. (By the way, nothing spells doom for a celeb relationship like permanent ink. Ask Johnny Depp and Pam Anderson.)

Anyway, now that Nick and Miley are “hanging out as much as we can,” we wonder when they will choose to make their first public appearance as a couple. Because those grainy images of them on a jet ski don’t really count!

The upcoming Teen Choice Awards in August seem ideal, since Miley’s nominated for a gazillion awards and the JoBros are hosting the show.  If the couple show up hand-in-hand, as 83% of the Predicto Mobile community predicts, they might even attract more attention than those dourTwilight folks the teens love so much.

(Then again, maybe not. Robert Pattinson: I fear for your life.)

Predicto member “hspj966 ” thinks the supercouple will go to the TCA’s together because “they are the cutest couple ever!” Predicto user “koer3960″ disagrees, saying “I think Miley needs to get a guy and stick with him cuz she’s gonna end up like Taylor Swift.” Meow!

While we await to see what happens next in the saga of Niley (Mick? CyJoe?), check out other hot topics the Predicto community is voting on at Predicto.com.

Predicto Ponders: Will Shaq Be Traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers?

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Shaquille O'Neal 2Shaquille O’Neal a Cleveland Cavalier? If the rumors buzzing around the sports world are true, Shaq could be saying sayonara to the Phoenix Suns and joining LeBron James’ team, which came close to making the NBA Finals this year.

Shaq has plenty of playoffs experience, having earned four championship rings during his time with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat. King James is reportedly excited about the prospect of the 17-year NBA veteran joining the lineup, as stories were circulating about James’ rumored departure from Cleveland.

The speculation over whether Shaq will join the Cavaliers’ ranks is tight among the Predicto Mobile Community, with 50% predicting Shaq will be traded to Cleveland by the start of the next basketball season.

“[That would be] a great team!” exclaims user “gqao0996.” “I believe he will to try and make another shot at a championship,” says “vaez8677.” “That would be a good power move for Cleveland,” agrees “maxman109,” who, along with the previous users, voted yes.

“If [the teams involved] were smart, they wouldn’t trade,” says “kous9543.” “Why would they let him go?” asks “spjl5084” about the prospect of seemingly giving the Cavaliers a shot at the world champions’ title. “MK88” takes a different stance on the issue, stating simply that, “Shaq is too old.”
