Will Mya Win Dancing with the Stars?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

MyaR&B singer Mya had a slew of hits in the late ’90s and early ’00s, most notably “Case of the Ex” and “Lady Marmalade,” her collaboration with Pink, Lil Kim and Christina Aguilera. These days, though, she’s better known for her moves on Dancing with the Stars.

Having received tap lessons from the renowned Savion Glover, Mya is no stranger to intricate choreography. However, she’s faced her fair share of challenges on the hit ABC show, jiving to the jitterbug and working it out during the waltz — a far cry from the hip-hop and tap styles she’s used to.

That hasn’t deterred her from being one of the show’s top contenders, usually ranking in one of the top two spots after each competition. The fans also seem to love Mya, as there are only seven contestants left in the competition.

Will she win this season’s edition of Dancing with the Stars? 57% of voting Predicto Mobile members say yes!

See what they had to say about the starlet going the distance!

Frightful Fun at Blood Manor Tour

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Just being in New York can be scary enough, so what are the city’s haunted houses like? For a special Halloween episode of Predicto TV, we got a VIP tour (or an RIP tour) of Blood Manor, one of the scariest fright factories around! The crew took a peek inside with Jim Faro, the owner of the place, who introduced us to his cast of costumed creeps and ghouls (all really nice actors, if you want to know).

The makeup and sets are the kind you see in a Hollywood production, and the cast of Blood Manor really seemed to take the job seriously: they want to scare the pants off you. After spending time in the ghostly halls of Blood Manor, we were convinced: this place takes Halloween to a whole new level. The team got the ghoulish group to answer Predicto questions (it was totally hilarious to ask them about Bernie Madoff and David Lettermen)! Check out Episode 47 of Predicto TV now!

Will Adam Lambert Change His Album Cover?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Adam Lambert AlbumWe have a new addition one of our favorite blogs, Funny and Worst Album Covers. Yes, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has glammed it up for his debut disc, For Your Entertainment.

The hair, the makeup, the pose … it’s a little difficult to pinpoint what exactly it is that’s bad about the cover.

We’ll just go with “everything.”

Thing is, Lambert wants the album cover to be campy, accusing his critics of not “appreciating” what he’s channeling here. (Maybe that’s why he and Lady GaGa are buddies? He did say “she gets it, ya know?”)

Clearly unapologetic, Predicto wondered: Will Adam cave into public opinion and change the album’s artwork before it is release on November 23? 70% of voters say no, he won’t.

“The cover gets everyone’s attention,” says member “ckmr1440.”

“It’s his album, let him do what he wants to do,” says “nerm9329.”

Celeb Couples are New Territory for Psychic John J. Oliver

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

It was a big day around the Predicto TV offices on Seventh Avenue when John J. Oliver stopped by recently. In the two years (yay us) that Predicto has been around, this was the first time that a professional psychic has paid a call on us. We were thrilled to welcome the co-star of ‘Haunting Evidence’ on truTV to make Predicto predictions of our favorite celebs.

John was a gracious and nice guy as he settled in for an interview in our office (John facing south, at his request, for better feng shui). At this time of year John is gearing up for 2010 predictions, and he made so many for us, we will have to break it down into multiple episodes. In this clip, watch him focus on celebrity couples Brad & Angelina, Chris & Rihanna and Jay-Z & Beyonce.

Of the erstwhile Chris Brown and estranged girlfriend Rihanna, “You’re going to see wonderful romantic news or news of new children” and Jay-Z & Beyonce, “I don’t get this strong feeling like I do with other celebrity couples… I wonder if their relationship in large part is a publicity vehicle, I wonder that when I see their auras together.”

Will the World Series Go for 7 Games?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Derek JeterAfter a rain-delayed game 6, the New York Yankees finally ended their grueling series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and clinched a spot in the 2009 World Series.

They’ll be up against last year’s champions, the Philadelphia Phillies, who have been on hiatus since October 21. Having had plenty of time to rest and in possession of 2008’s trophy, the Phillies are going to fight hard to keep their place as baseball’s best team even though they’re up against the million-dollar bankroll of the Yankees.

No matter who wins, fans will be the true champions the longer series extends through October and November. Though both teams dominated their competitors throughout the playoff, will this battle royale extend to seven games in the World Series? 57% of voting Predicto Mobile members say yes — but not everyone shares the enthusiasm in their comments.

“No, the Yankees will win it in [fewer] games,” says “ybre3155.”

“The teams are great! Should be a matchup of the century,” says “jpru7358.” Wow, and it’s only 2009.

Stan “The Man” Lee in a Batman Movie?!?!

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Stan Lee“Make mine Marvel” or “Die-hard DC”? For the uninitiated among you, we’re not speaking a foreign language. No, we’re talking about one of the biggest rivalries of all time — equal to if not greater than such legendary battles as the Yankees vs. the Red Sox, cats vs. dogs and Tupac vs. Biggie.

This, friends, is the eternal battle of comic books: Marvel vs. DC.

DC is the industry powerhouse that’s home to iconic heroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the Flash. Marvel is the underdog that rose to superiority and counts among its ranks the likes of Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man and the X-Men.

In Hollywood, however, these distinctions often mean little. Halle Berry, for example, played Storm in Marvel’s X-Men franchise and DC’s Catwoman, while Ryan Reynolds is set to play Marvel’s Deadpool and DC’s Green Lantern.

But what happens when Stan “The Man” Lee, the creator of Marvel’s most well-known heroes, says he wants to do a cameo in the next Batman flick put out by a competitor?

dc-vs-marvelLee is no stranger to film, having made brief appearances in nearly every Marvel motion picture in the last decade. But will he have crossover success by making an appearance in the next, yet-to-be-confirmed adventure of the Caped Crusader? 51% of voting Predicto Mobile members say yes!

See what commenters had to say about the potential collabo!

Predicto TV Walks the High Line

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Now a recently-opened pedestrian park, the High Line was actually built in the 1930s to keep trains high above the traffic of Manhattan’s industrial district. After becoming inactive, the historic structure was under threat of demolition when the community-based Friends of the High Line formed in 1999. This non-profit group has worked with the City of New York and an exclusive design team to create a gorgeous esplanade.

The High Line also provided a sumptuous surrounding for Predicto TV’s latest break from the red carpets. We spent an afternoon strolling and stopping to talk to New Yorkers and visitors from all over the U.S., and found out just what people think about the hottest topics that have everyone talking in the Predicto mobile community. Check out Episode 45 of Predicto TV now!

Will Glamour Have A Plus-Size Column Like Marie Claire?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Predictoglammc082708The fashion world recently got a taste of something big, literally. At 5′2″ and 220 pounds, Ashley Falcon, Marie Claire’s new columnist for “Big Girl in a Skinny World,” gives fashion advice for plus-size women.

Ashley proves that fashionistas come in all shapes and sizes and that in this world, it’s an epic struggle when you’re a big girl. So she offers help, giving the curvy females practical fashion advice. Take for example her recommendations on the best jeans for curvy women. Her column immediately earned points with plus-size women everywhere for daring to call out designers for equating larger sizes to shapeless, non-flattering cuts.

The question now is will Glamour follow suit and find itself a plus-size fashion writer as well? 75% of the Predicto community says yes, 25% says no. Here’s what some of them had to say.

“I think they will since there are a lot of plus sized women out there,” says member “dottynell.”

“They should! Most of America is overweight,” says “Nikiya.”

“They have a very different readership. Glamour is an aspirational mag and nobody aspires to be fat!” says “nwyd4928.”

“Glamour [won’t get a] writer to write about plus-sizes like Marie Claire,” says “Bmay75.” Not a fan of Glamour, we suppose?

While we love the fact that Ashley’s bringing more than size diversity to the fashion glossies, we also think Glamour should feature spreads for big women.

Bethenny’s Baby Shower on RHONY?

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Bethenny FrankelReal Housewives of New York’s Bethenny Frankel had a lot to celebrate earlier in the month. Her boyfriend of nearly a year, Jason Hoppy, popped the question and asked the reality TV star for her hand in marriage.

Frankel said yes and the two have been busy making plans for the wedding, as well as Bethenny filming the next season of the hit reality show on Bravo.

Blogger Perez Hilton recently dropped a bombshell that Frankel was pregnant. After denying it, she eventually confirmed that she is indeed with child.

Though excited, Bethenny was less than thrilled to be outed by Perez, saying that she and Hoppy had yet to tell his parents. Nonetheless, they are happy and excited to be entering parenthood together.

Will her homegirls on RHONY throw her a baby shower? More importantly, will the shower make it onto the show this season? 85% of voting Predicto members say yes!

“If she’s on reality TV, I’d say she likes being exposed, so of course she’d want to make more out of that event. Squeeze those last 15 minutes,” says member “asfn9343.”

“If I was on TV I would show my shower, why not?” asks “eqia2818.”

“I think she will, but there’s gonna be drama,” says “tequila72.”

Drama on a Real Housewives series? Surely you jest.

Are You Ready for Jon & Octomom Plus 22?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Jon OctomomNadya Suleman, better known as Octomom, apparently has the hots for Jon Gosselin! Given that Suleman has 14 children and Jon has 8, will we be seeing Jon & Nadya Plus 22?

In an online interview, Suleman said she “kind of [has] a crush” on the famous father, but expressed sympathy for Kate, Jon’s current wife who he is divorcing and who currently spends the most time with their twins and sextuplets.

Suleman also goes on to say she’d never do a reality show with her kids, saying that it would be exploitative.

But what if Jon came calling? Would Jon and the TLC network reconsider Jon & Nadya Plus 22 in substitution for Kate Plus 8?

Even if the pair never did a show together, Predicto wondered if they’d at least go on a date together by 12/10? (Sure, you’d have to ignore Jon’s many girlfriends — though he seems capable of handling that task on his own.) 56% of voting members say no, this is one hookup we’ll never see!

“That would be a reality disaster,” says member “orfx6958.”

“I just think if both have any respect for themselves and [their] wonderful children that they will wait and give the family some healing space. He should be ashamed,” says “rcni2416.”

“They are both nuts and using their children, so why not? Media would eat it up, that’s what they like,” says “xfaj0882.”
