Will Hannah Montana Get a Sequel?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Say it ain’t so! After four years of world-conquering, Miley Cyrus has bid farewell to Hannah Montana, the TV show that evolved into a pop cultural phenomenon and launched the career of the 17-year-old who is arguably one of the today’s biggest stars.

The casino-themed soirée celebrating the show’s impact was such a hot affair that Will Smith even showed up — to drop off his two youngest kids. Point is, Cyrus’ hard work at such a young age has paid off, as she’s risen up the A-list.

Like the character she played on TV, Miley had a dual career that wasn’t limited to being on screen. Cyrus has released a few albums under the Hannah Montana moniker and under her real name, charting up a couple of memorable hits.

Though parents and blogs would love it if she stopped dancing, Cyrus seems poised to continue with the music, having just released the much-talked-about video for her new single, “Can’t Be Tamed.” But what about Hannah Montana? Is the moonlighting teen singer really kaput?

Well, as any fan or parent dragged to the theater knows, Hannah’s adventures haven’t been relegated to the small screen, as Cyrus starred in Hannah Montana: The Movie last year. The film grossed nearly $80 million domestically.

With that kind of success and fans in need of a fix, will Disney revive its cash cow? Will Miley’s alter ego find more adventure in a big screen? Basically, will there be a sequel?!? Nearly 68% of voting Predicto Mobile members say yes! See why by clicking here!

Predicto Goes to the Movies!

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Summer movie season is here! Depending on where you reside, you may be looking to escape the heat and humidity. There’s no better refuge than the closest movie theater, where viewers can be whisked away to medieval times or hyped up by hi-tech high jinks.

The battle royale between adventurous do-gooder Robin Hood and Tony Stark’s alter ego, Iron Man, is sure to be a test of each respective hero’s metal, er, mettle. The blockbusters are battling it out, with Robin Hood making its box office debut and Iron Man 2 fresh off its $133.6 million opening weekend.

Clearly competitors, which action-packed flick will be king of the adventure/explosion category? Nearly 60% of early voters predict that Iron Man 2 will remain the champion!

Guys aren’t the only ones who have something to look forward to at the cinema this weekend. Letters to Juliet, starring Amanda Seyfried, and Just Wright, featuring Queen Latifah, offer a romantic alternative in their respective current roles. The “RomComs” (that’s romantic comedies, natch) are likely to be a hit with the female demographic. Just Wright may even score points from the fellas for its basketball theme, which coincides with the NBA Finals.

Despite the B-ball action, 74% of voting Predicto players expect that Letters to Juliet will score a win in the RomCom category!

“I think Letters to Juliet is going to be the best romantic movie of the year!” member “kgge4203” exclaimed. But “ntb1017” was less enthusiastic, saying that Just Wright “has basketball in it. Guys want to see basketball. It is a compromise with their girlfriends. They won’t mind [because] it’s playoff season.”

Once the NBA wraps up its season, daddy duty will return, and that will likely include trips to the theater to see sequels to two of the biggest animated blockbusters of all time. Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After: The Final Chapter. Tough choice for choosing kiddies, but voting Predicto members think the decision is simple. Nearly 67% have forecasted that the latest Shrek film will have the biggest box office debut!

Not to be left out of the sequel smackdown are Twilight and Sex and the City. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Sex and the City 2 were pitted against Iron Man 2 to see which continuing chapter would triumph as the biggest earner of the summer movie season. With nearly 23,000 votes split between the three, 47% expect Eclipse to take top honors, followed by Iron Man 2 at 42% and Sex and the City 2 with 11%.

With more promising releases throughout the summer, there’s potential for a real blockbuster summer! Stay connected to Predicto.com to see which flicks come out on top and which ones fizzle into obscurity.

Betty White is White Hot!

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Betty White is the Golden Girl of All Media! The legendary TV actress has been blitzing TV, the Internet and red carpets this week to promote her upcoming, fan-demanded appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Tonight, she’ll cozy up on the couch to chat with Jimmy Fallon on his eponymous late-night show. Anyone who’s ever watched knows how Jimmy likes to challenge his celebrity guests to the time-honored and fraternity-approved game of beer pong.

When White made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in June, Fallon narrowly defeated the Rose Nylund-portraying actress 2-1.

We have a feeling she’ll want to even the score, so we asked the Predicto Mobile community if she would indeed beat the host on his own turf. 61% say yes!

“Betty White is an amazing old woman – she is capable of anything!” says voting member “jenbrowne65.”

Less impressed with her skills is “qndg9072,” who said, “Love Betty White, but beer pong is a ‘younger generation’ thing, so the vote goes to Fallon! Sorry Betty!”

OK, if beer pong isn’t a sure thing, how about something Betty’s very knowledgeable about: ratings? If the spike from last week is any indication, fans are eager to see her take to the SNL stage. Will her headlining episode top 15 million viewers on Saturday? 65% say yes – find out why by clicking here!

The icing on the cake for White’s appearance on SNL? We’re thinking a duet with Jay-Z! Say what you will about the mismatched duo, but will this pair do the unexpected and collaborate for a little back-and-forth mic action? That’s anybody’s guess, but what Predicto did ask was whether they would appear together in a skit.

The verdict? 77% of voting members say yes!

(We still have our fingers crossed in the hope that White will take the female verses of “Can I Get a …”)

Betty White is white hot and you can guarantee that everyone will be talking about SNL around the watercooler on Monday. Lucky for you, Predicto is always on the pulse of the hottest watercooler topics and the folks involved.
