Will Howard Stern Judge American Idol?

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Simon Cowell is exiting American Idol once the current season wraps in May. He’ll be taking his shtick to his own Idol-like show, The X Factor, in which solo and group contestants will compete for the chance to become pop’s next superstar.

But back to Idol. The show introduced us to the British destroyer of dreams, who held nothing back in the way of honest criticism. He often offended contestants, had a short fuse for bad singing and crushed the spirit of anyone who utilized a gimmick to get on TV.

For many, Simon is the reason they watch American Idol: he says what so many in the television audience wanted to say, but was bold enough to actually say it. With ever-happy Ellen DeGeneres replacing the often dazed and confused Paula Abdul in a move that seems to be pleasing fans, who could possibly take the place of the king of mean?

One name that is floating around is that of the king of all media, Howard Stern. The shock jock has been known to speak his mind on any and all topics. He even ditched his syndicated terrestrial radio gig to move to Sirius Satellite Radio back in 2004 in order to escape the rules and regulations of the FCC.

No stranger to controversy himself, Stern seems like he would have no problem upstaging Idol’s contestants with his opinionated and straight-for-the-jugular thoughts on their singing abilities.

Though it’s not really the type of gig we’d expect from Howie, is it out of the realm of possibility? Stern has recently talked about leaving Sirius and his contract with the satellite broadcaster ends in January 2011 — the month in which Idol would begin its 10th season.

We asked the Predicto Mobile community, and the votes and opinions came out in droves — nearly 64% of voting members think Stern will NOT join the judging panel of American Idol.

“I feel his reputation would precede him. American Idol is watched by all ages. Families wouldn’t want to risk him making any inappropriate comments,” says member “mswf6696.”

“Comi5030” disagreed with that statement, saying “they’ll get someone radical and unafraid to be outspoken!”

“I would think he’s way too controversial and egotistical to judge the contestants,” says “rpxy2438.”

“He should stick to what he’s been doing for quite sometime now, he’s good at it,” says “obye6830.”

Jenny McCarthy: Back to Playboy?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

No, you’re not seeing things.

Standing at 5’6” with vital stats of 39-24-34, Jenny McCarthy has been an object of fantasy for millions of young men all over the world over. Her October 1993 centerfold in Playboy when she was 20 years old catapulted the busty blond bombshell to superstardom. She was crowned Playmate of the Year, and soon after started doing hosting work for TV shows on Playboy’s cable channel and MTV. She went on to star in movies, host her own TV talk show, became a mother and authored books. She also does advocacy work, particularly raising funds for autism, and is one of the most famous vegans in the world. Not bad, eh?

She’s a superstar, which is a far cry from her initial dreams of making money from Playboy modeling to pay for college. Through the ’90s, she was one of the most desired women in the world. People thought that getting on in years would slow her down, but it didn’t seem to hinder her work. Even in the current millennium, she still keeps herself scintillatingly hot in her 30s and she continues to do parts in films while still being a mother to her son, Evan.

There are many girls today who still can’t hold a candle to her vibrant sex appeal as she nears 40! Apart from doing movies and TV work, she’s been writing books on parenting and pregnancy.

What keeps her in the showbiz game isn’t simply her looks — true, it’s in large part to her sexy body — but it is also because of her larger-than-life, brash yet down-to-earth simple persona that just continues to grab people’s attention.

Now there’s talk of completing the circle. Amid the news that Hugh Hefner is close to settling down, and rumors of how a trend is arising towards choosing cover girls who aren’t as young as in previous years, interesting speculation has come. The word on the street is that Jenny McCarthy could be set for a return to the cover of Playboy magazine, even after four cover appearances between 1993 and today. Yes, she’s still got it! And there may be an announcement forthcoming!

Or will there?

We took the question to the Predicto Mobile community and we came up with a resounding 76% vote of yes, she will be making an announcement of her return to Playboy come the 10th of March.

American Idol vs. Lost: Who Will Be the Ratings Winner?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Tonight TV’s schedule is shaping up to be a real clash of the titans! ABC’s Lost returns for its sixth and final season, but the drama will compete against the ratings juggernaut known as Fox’s American Idol.

Lost, a fan favorite in its early years and still a cult phenomenon today, has plenty of loose ends to tie up and unanswered questions that need addressing. Since the season is the end of the series, viewers will likely want to see every second of the drama surrounding our favorite stranded islanders.

Meanwhile, we’re hoping American Idol will introduce us to the next “Pants on the Ground” viral hit song. Though the show’s ratings have dropped slightly this season, Idol has reigned supreme as one of the most watched shows on television. With Hollywood Week coming soon and Ellen DeGeneres finally taking her seat at the judges’ table, Idol will only be a stronger contender on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

So, as the battle royale begins, which show will come out on top? Voting Predicto Mobile members say American Idol, which received 77% of the votes.

“I figured Lost would get big ratings because it’s the last season,” says member “ztip8211.”

“The Lost trend seemed to wear off quickly. American Idol is strong still,” says “Payge0713.”

But it looks like “nwyd4298” won’t be watching either, saying “Don’t care, isn’t Law and Order on?”

Who will be crowned the king of Tuesday night? Cameron and Bigelow: Will Former Spouses Compete for Best Director at the Oscars?

Monday, February 1st, 2010

In the blue corner: the highest grossing film of all time; critical acclaim worldwide; six wins out of nine nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Group Awards; eight nominations from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA); two awards from four nominations in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe Awards, specifically best director and best film in drama genre. You can’t deny it: James Cameron’s $310 million science fiction film Avatar is on a roll.

And in the red corner: a Top 10 Film of the Decade chosen by the Associated Press; awards from the Venice Film Festival, Hollywood Film Festival, Golden Satellite Awards and many more accolades from film associations and guilds all around the world; also nominated for the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes. After spending nearly $11 million dollars, Katheryn Bigelow managed to direct a spellbinding tour-de-force of the modern-day Middle Eastern conflict in The Hurt Locker.

As the film awards season rolls along, it’s becoming more and more apparent that Cameron and Bigelow, once married to each another, seem to be on a collision course with destiny: the Best Director plum at this years Academy Awards. The Oscar for Best Director has a lot of other possible directors of note worthy of taking the crown: District 9’s Neil Blomkamp, Inglourious Basterds‘ Quentin Tarantino and Up in the Air’s Jason Reitman all are favorites to be nominated.

Yet the rumors are already swirling, even as the nominees for the Oscars have yet to be announced. There is talk that these exes are about to go into a once-in-a-blue-moon showdown for one of Hollywood’s biggest prizes.

It’s not like it hasn’t happened already. They both faced each other in the Golden Globes and in the Critics’ Choice Awards, with one win each. It’s worth mentioning how both of their works are of such quality that they can take each other on. It’s like a massive boxing match and people wonder if they will face off.

So now it comes down to it – do you believe that these two directors (and former lovers) will face each other for the Academy Awards? We’ve put the question to a vote and the Predicto community has said yes with 60% of the 1,483 votes received.

What about you? Is it a date with destiny for these two brilliant directors? Visit Predicto.com today to have your say!

Will the Super Bowl Determine Kim Kardashian’s Future with Reggie Bush?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Its only natural that when a guy wins a Super Bowl ring, he gives his girlfriend an engagement ring, right?

Kim Kardashian must hope so. The idea that the tabloid star’s marital status would be dependent on a football game came from a recent radio interview, when it was joked that if her boyfriend Reggie Bush won the Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints, then Kim would be gifted with a diamond sparkler. Kim was quick to deny the rumors that grew out of that deejay chat, but perhaps this idea has some merit.

After all, to quote Sasha Fierce, isn’t it time for Reggie to put a ring on it? He’s been dating the most famous Kardashian sister since 2007 (save for a temporary breakup last year), and surely Kim is ready to have her own star-studded wedding televised on her E! reality show.  She already let Khloe beat her to the altar–can’t imagine she’d let Kourtney do so too!

The Predicto Mobile community thinks its time for the Kardashian-Bush nuptials, with 60% predicting that Kim will get an engagement ring soon after the Super Bowl.

UPDATE: The Saints won! And with Kim and Reggie heading to New Orleans for Mardi Gras celebrations, perhaps Kim will receive a proposal on Bourbon Street?

More Brangelina Drama: Will They Attend the Oscars?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Did Jennifer Aniston break up Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? She sure did — that is, if any of the celebrity weeklies are to be believed.

Brangelina has been caught up in a rumor for the past week about the status of their hotter-than-hot relationship. The couple — who isn’t married — has been together for close to five years. Their happy home includes three adopted children and three biological. How could they even consider splitting up what seems like such a happy home?

Well, there are those rumors about Brad and Jen rekindling the romance that Angelina reportedly came between. Then there have been other cheating rumors involving Jolie and a dialect coach from her forthcoming movie, Salt.

But gossip such as this has always been a part of one of this sexy couple’s everyday itinerary. Why is everyone taking these rumors so seriously now? Are the tabloids right on? Are the rumors correct? And, most importantly, will they attend the Oscars to battle these things that people are saying?

The Predicto Mobile community had its say and voting members said by an overwhelming margin (86%) that the pair will appear at the star-studded red carpet and ceremony.

“Yes, they will show up together because they still want to be with each other,” says member “QueenofMJ.”

“I think they will so everyone will stop saying stuff about them,” says “zqsa3338.”

“They are so not breaking up! Two sexy people argue, but never leave each other,” says “tyok2128.”

New Minnesota Vikings Theme Courtesy of … Prince?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Music royalty has a name. It is Prince and he is funky!

The Minneapolis native has been soaring up the charts since the 1970s with such recognizable hits as “1999,” “Little Red Corvette” and “When Doves Cry.” As a talented musician, he’s inspired a generation of artists with his sometimes raunchy but always funky melodies.

Will lightning strike now that it’s 2010? His Purpleness recently recorded a song called “Purple and Gold,” an unofficial fight song for his hometown Minnesota Vikings. The football team is set to take on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday for the title of NFC Champion. Whoever wins this matchup goes on to the Super Bowl.

The song — which sounds a little more like a prep school fight song than one made for gridiron gladiators — has been making the rounds on the Internet. His Majesty was also seen at last week’s game, where the Vikings knocked the Cowboys out of contention.

The coincidence between Prince’s color of choice and that of the Vikings is uncanny, but will his choice of lyrics rally the Vikings to adopt his composition as the team’s official fight song? 59% of voting Predicto Mobile members say yes!

See what voters have to say about the Vikings’ unlikely fan by clicking here!

Will Taylor Swift’s Fearless Charge into Grammy Glory?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Most of the year 2009 in music swirled around a few names for different reasons. Everyone went gaga over Lady GaGa and the Black Eyed Peas jump-started parties worldwide with feeling that tonight was going to be a good night. Outside the stage and the recording studio, we all saw how the violent altercation between Chris Brown and pop princess Rihanna turned into a media circus.

While everyone everywhere was running at such a crazily high speed, Taylor Swift went another way, slowly but surely winning people’s hearts. Already, at the tender age of 20, she has achieved more than 20 Top 40 hit songs, an MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video and hosted Saturday Night Live. She even picked up the distinction of being chosen as Entertainer of the Year by the Associated Press. She’s also the official celebrity spokesperson of the National Hockey League, along with being the cover girl of a slew of magazines. Not a bad way to close out the decade, wouldn’t you think?

The party doesn’t end there, either! Taylor Swift has been nominated to win no less than the prestigious Album of the Year award at the Grammy Awards on January 31. It comes hand-in-hand with nods for Best Country Album, Song of the Year,  Best Female Vocal Performance for “You Belong with Me” and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for her song “Breathe” with Colbie Calliat.

To many fans, this is no surprise: her second album, Fearless, has been simply dominant on the charts, going straight to No. 1 and staying on track to be one of the most downloaded albums ever. Fearless is also a critics’ darling, hailed by connoisseurs and casual fans alike. It ended the year as the best-selling album, beating back stiff challenges from artists such as Susan Boyle, who finished second, and the late great Michael Jackson, who finished third according to Billboard.

So will Taylor Swift ride it to the end with a Grammy in tow? She’ll have to stand up to the competition there, and stiff it will be. The Album of the Year award is also being chased by Lady GaGa for smash hit The Fame, Dave Matthews Band’s Big Whisky and The Groogrux King, the Black Eyed Peas techno-inspired hip-hop opus The E.N.D. and R&B diva Beyoncé’s I Am … Sasha Fierce.

Jokes of Kanye West interrupting her to laud Beyonce again aside, the Predicto Mobile community has spoken and come away with Taylor being the favorite to win, with 78% of the vote saying that yes, she will win Album of the Year.

Will Beyonce and GaGa Duet at the Grammys?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

The Grammys, music’s biggest night, will take place on Sunday, January 31. While a number of prominent musicians are on the performance roster, few are as showstopping as Beyoncé and Lady GaGa.

Beyoncé has done everything from being lowered to the stage while hanging upside down to bringing out an entourage of ladies to punctuate her pivots and poses.

GaGa, on the other hand, has integrated fake blood, piano playing and a ball and chain into her repertoire.

What if the two combined their power of performance into one massive one musical mash-up?

It’s not out of the realm of possibility. The two teamed up for a pair of songs from their most recent albums, “Telephone” (from GaGa’s) and “Video Phone” (from Beyoncé’s), with the latter receiving the video treatment.

Will the pair partner up for a one-off rendition of the chart-topping hit at the Grammys? According to the Predicto Mobile community, 86% of voting members say yes!

“It would b a great show starter,” says member “argn4583.”

“They’re gonna steal the show with their performance,” says “cayl7288,” who voted yes.

“I like both of them and I don’t think they would like to perform that song,” says “ksvy0943.”

“I want them to do individual songs,” says “lddy9339.”

Will Team Conan Boycott Jay Leno?

Friday, January 15th, 2010

When Conan O’Brien announced that he wouldn’t participate in the destruction of The Tonight Show by hosting his program at 12:05 AM rather than 11:30 PM, the online reaction was immediate and intense.

Everyone with Twitter accounts were proudly announcing themselves as “Team Conan”, upset by how NBC was treating the red-headed host like a red-headed stepchild. The movement came together so quickly that an “I’m With Coco” image soon became as iconic as Obama’s “Hope” poster. It’s hard to find a person on the Internet who hasn’t voiced their support for the beleaguered O’Brien, all feeling that Jay Leno had manipulated his way back to his old show.

Now Wonderwall wants to know whether Team Conan will rise up again their hero’s enemy and call for a boycott against Jay Leno. Looks like the the Predicto Mobile community are also Coco fans, because 64% voted yes.
