That’s why the VMAs always command such respect from the artists. Winning a Moonman is a recognition reflective of the times and only given to the cream of the pop culture crop. The VMAs are also the biggest party in destination cities such as Las Vegas, Miami and New York, who have each played host to the definitely un-black-tie affair, but this year, the awards will be handed out in Los Angeles.

Hmmm, could serendipity be playing its hand with the world’s favorite ubiquitous California Gurl? Katy Perry was announced as a performer, but fans are wondering if last year’s big winner (and this year’s 13-time nominee) Lady GaGa will also grace the stage. Of course, when Katy does show up, expect her to bring along her brand of arm candy in the form of her fiancé Russell Brand, who took up VMA hosting honors in 2008 and 2009. Will the British comedian and star of Get Him to the Greek be invited back for a charming third time? 63% of voters say yes!

This year’s crop of contenders are Canadian teen sensation Justin Bieber, “Tik Tok” singer Ke$ha and Lil Wayne’s homegirl Nicki Minaj, among others. Nearly half of voting members have Bieber Fever and are convinced Justin will walk away with the trophy.

There’s also the issue of a Best Hip-Hop Video. After 5 weeks atop Billboard’s album chart and a pair of No. 1 hits, 73% of Predicto members think Eminem is a shoo-in to defeat such heavy hitters as B.o.B., Drake and Kid Cudi.

Even worse, Donald Trump says Bret is in “big, big trouble and the prognosis is not so great.”

The Donald, who has allegedly been in contact with Michaels’ hospital, puts a positive spin on the situation, though, saying that Bret’s competitive spirit is what will ultimately save his life. (He should know, given that Michaels’ is a contestant on the current season of Celebrity Apprentice.)

No word yet on what caused the hemorrhage, but it may lead back to his performance during 2009’s Tony Awards. After rocking out with the cast of the show Rock of Ages, Bret was clobbered by stage scenery. He recovered quickly and because the external damage faded, everyone wrote off the injury. Could that be coming back to haunt Michaels?

Country Music Television will hand out trophies to the top solo acts, duos and groups in such categories as Video of the Year, CMT Performance of the Year and Director of the Year. Naturally, a who’s who of country’s hit makers will be on hand to croon out twangy songs of hope and heartbreak at the annual event.

Right now, categories have as many as eight contenders and the Group Video of the Year category is no exception. Viewers are currently voting on who they should make it to the final round of voting before a winner is announced at the ceremony. But how the Group Video of the Year category differs from other contests is that only five bands fill the nominated slots. Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts each have two videos in preliminary contention, meaning one or two groups may have two videos up for the prestigious honor.

The 16-year-old Canadian singer has already scored a spot among Predicto Mobile’s Top 6 Celebs to Watch in 2010, but is he also about to rule the Billboard 200 album chart?

Last week, Bieber released his latest album, My World 2.0, the follow-up to 2009’s My World. Justin recruited Ludacris and Sean Kingston for collaborations on his much talked-about sophomore disc.

Since the release of his debut, Bieber’s profile has skyrocketed, resulting in participation on the remake of “We Are the World,” attending the Grammys and performing at last weekend’s Kids Choice Awards. Oh, it helps that Usher is his mentor and his manager has been jailed for causing a near riot in Long Island, N.Y.

Of the other high-profile releases that came out last Tuesday, the one that has the star power to potentially stop the new kid on the block is West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg with his latest, More Malice.

Since then, both artists have released new albums, but to polarized results. Rihanna managed to crack the top 10 of Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 with “Russian Roulette,” “Hard” and “Rude Boy,” while Brown barely made a dent with “I Can Transform Ya” and “Crawl.”

As the publication’s Artist of the Year for 2008, Breezy should be able to bend the charts at will, something he seemingly did ever since stepping onto the scene in 2005 with his debut single, “Run It.”

That power is quickly slipping from his grasp, as he made a plea to his fans for some help. In an audio message posted on SayNow.com, Brown basically says he’s still being blacklisted from radio, despite his many (many) apologies and his good behavior obtained by serving his sentence.

But the fans don’t seem to be turning out, buying fewer albums and not calling in to request for his songs. Could the lack of support lead Chris into an early retirement? We asked the Predicto Mobile community and 75% of voting players say that he WON’T quit the music-and-performing game.

The red-hot country trio of Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott just scored their first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 album chart, Need You Now.

With the initial success of their sophomore effort, attention is turning back to the album’s title track. “Need You Now” peaked at No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 back in November of 2009, but the group recently introduced the song to non-country music fans during a performance at the Grammys on Sunday.

The nationwide audience has responded quite positively to Lady Antebellum, pushing the single to the No. 1 position on iTunes over the last few days.

With its pop appeal and ear-pleasing melodies, will “Need You Now” be able to power past acts such as Ke$ha, Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift and Young Money to claim the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100? Despite its performance thus far, only 37% of Predicto Mobile players say yes!

The Minneapolis native has been soaring up the charts since the 1970s with such recognizable hits as “1999,” “Little Red Corvette” and “When Doves Cry.” As a talented musician, he’s inspired a generation of artists with his sometimes raunchy but always funky melodies.

Will lightning strike now that it’s 2010? His Purpleness recently recorded a song called “Purple and Gold,” an unofficial fight song for his hometown Minnesota Vikings. The football team is set to take on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday for the title of NFC Champion. Whoever wins this matchup goes on to the Super Bowl.

The song — which sounds a little more like a prep school fight song than one made for gridiron gladiators — has been making the rounds on the Internet. His Majesty was also seen at last week’s game, where the Vikings knocked the Cowboys out of contention.
